A TOUCH OF ELEGANCE 1985 Bay Mare

'Ellie' had a tremendous influence on Ridgewood. She was an own daughter of Wham Bam Command and we were elated to get her. We bred her to Tara's Cherokee, crossing back into Trophy and In Command bloodlines, not unlike the Tara Farm program we studied so closely. The resulting foal would be named the 2000 World Champion Mare, RWF Noelle. That win with Noelle changed the face of Ridgewood and propelled us to set sail on a new course of breeding excellence, or so it seemed. The following year, while she was foaling a bay colt by Cedar Creekharlequin, Ellie died - and in losing her we lost our hearts as well. We miss her as much today as we did the day she left us. She was a once-in-a-lifetime mare and we are grateful for the short time we owned her. Since then Ridgewood has been re-born but we remember our foundation mares and hold them very dear.

APOGEE KILLER BEA 1989 Chestnut Mare

Bea came to retire at Ridgewood in Colorado. She was given to us by Drs. Ray and Allison Bendele to enjoy for pleasure riding around the farm. Bea had been shown many times as a Western Pleasure mare and that good training made her a wonderful trail horse. We lost Bea all too soon, but are grateful to have had her for the short time that we did. She was a special part of our lives and we remember her fondly.

ATMF MAJORETTE 1989 Chestnut Mare

The dam of four wonderful foals by Salem Command, including HFM Rock My World, Back Street Rhythm, Never Surrender, and the winning Jr. Exhibitor English Pleasure Horse Commanding Knight, Majorette is also the dam of FRF Curtain Call (by Serenity Masterpiece) who produced the outstanding FRF Kate Spade, by Mizrahi, for Kurt and Teri Rumens. We are very impressed with this big, stretchy mare and her wonderful old bottom line. Majorette produced a dark bay colt for Ridgewood Farm on May 23, 2009. We've named him RWF Maestoso.

BEALOVED 1980 Bay Mare

I remember walking past her stall at the Jubilee show and thinking she was the most beautiful yearling I had ever seen. She was sired by Beamine and had his trademark huge eyes and tight swivel ears. She was, in every aspect, exquisite. At the time, she was owned by Jaklee Farm in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Steve Quaid was her trainer at the time and also a mentor and friend of mine. Years later, when Jaklee Farm was dispersing most of their herd, Steve made Bealoved available to me. For Ridgewood she produced RWF Dearly Bealoved by Irish Ebony. We lost her to a brain tumor, an untimely death for a very elegant mare. When I'm thinking of Bealoved, I'm taking a walk down memory lane. She was very special to me.

BEAMING BEAUTY 1977 Bay Mare

When Beaming Beauty became available for sale via auction, I was excited. We had owned her full sister and full brother and an opportunity to purchase Beauty was a dream come true. We quickly made arrangements to purchase her prior to the sale and she came to make her new home in Michigan. Beauty was as lovely as her photos suggest. She was a big mare and absolutely beautiful. For Ridgewood, she produced one foal, RWF Lord Of The Dance, sired by Valiant Tony. Lord Of The Dance is owned by James Ivorie Fors in Pittsfield, PA. We feel fortunate to have owned Beaming Beauty and feel blessed that such a lovely mare was able to spend her golden years under the expert care of Jan Currie at Elysian Fields.

BRIEF ENCOUNTER 1987 Chestnut Gelding

He was with us such a short time - just months - yet his unexpected passing brought incredible pain to our lives. We will never forget the joy he brought to us, his stoicism through pain he did not let us see, the passing of a legend. Brief Encounter won multiple World titles for the Galatz family and later Tara Farm. He came to Ridgewood to retire. We planned a retirement party for him at the Circle J Horse Show and he attended as though he were the king. The very next day, he was gone. Goodbye, dear friend....we will NEVER forget you.

CBMF BOND GIRL 2005 Chestnut Mare

'Denise' has long been one of our favorite mares. She was the Grand National Champion Four Year Old Pleasure Driving Mare in her Oklahoma debut in 2009. She was also voted People's Choice Champion that year in the same division. She has a great work ethic for both saddle and harness, is a joy to have in the barn and has motor to burn. Denise is confirmed in foal to DBA Street Talk for a 2012 foal. This will be her first foal and we are very exicted.

CBMF FIRE AND ICE 1999 Chestnut Mare

One of our astute purchases at the 2007 Copper Dragon Sale, Fire and Ice features the successful combination of Noble Flaire and Vigilmarch. We have included photos of two of her sons; CBMF Hot Wired, a bay gelding by Ben's Rhapsody, and RWF Money Talks, a chestnut colt by DBA Street Talk (Serenity Masterpiece X Kinglow's Cherish). CONGRATULATIONS to Bruce and Jean Beckman of Mountain Aspen Morgans on their selection of this wonderful mare. The Beckman plan to breed Belle to Minion Millennium for a 2011 foal.

CBMF JUST ONE KISS 2005 Chestnut Mare

'Melody' is a maternal sister to our filly, RWF Finest Hour. They are both out of the park mare, Cabot French Kiss. Melody produced a beautiful chestnut filly in 2009 by Aljaks Double Whammy for Aljak Acres in Grass Lake, Michigan. Unfortunately, she died as a weanling--a heartbreaking experience. As you can see from her photo, she was a very special filly. While we no longer own Melody, we have retained one foal from her at a future date. We anticipate she will continue to be a wonderful producer for Aljak Acres and for Ridgewood Farm. Melody is confirmed in foal to Aljaks Double Whammy for 2011.

CBMF REMEMBER WHEN - SOLD! 2008 Bay Mare

'Suzy' is a new addition to our Copper Beech Collection. She carries the golden cross of Serenity Masterpiece (through DBA Street Talk) and Noble Flaire (through HVK Bell Flaire). Her dam, CBMF Unforgettable, is a nationally titled show mare and a favorite of ours. Her sire, DBA Street Talk, is playing an important role in the future of the Ridgewood Morgans. We can't wait for you to see her at the shows. She's fiery hot with a big open trot. Our hope is that she will become Jay's amateur pleasure driving horse!

CBMF SONG AND DANCE 2002 Bay Mare

We purchased Song at the 2007 Copper Dragon Sale as a harness horse for Julie to learn to drive. Song filled that role beyond our expectations and is now a part of our select group of broodmares. Song is out of RRG Flash Dance, making her a maternal sister to Ariel, a top producing mare for Copper Beech Morgan Farm and Tribeca. Her sire, HRH Legend Command, brings important Waseeka's In Command blood to the mix. Song is currently available for purchase.

CEDAR CREEK ARABELLA - Leased 2002 Brown Mare

We are thankful to Cedar Creek Farm for allowing us to lease Arabella this year. She is a full sister to the talented Cedar Creek With Bells On and a maternal sister to Cedar Creek Pazazz, both being out of the great producing mare Cedar Creek Jasmine. Arabella is stabled with Dragonsmeade Farm in Kentucky and is in foal to Bocelli for a May 2010 Ridgewood foal. This will be our only foal in 2010 and we are very anxious for the arrival. News Update: Arabella delivered a bay colt on May 12, 2010. We have named him RWF Bartok.

CKH BLACK WIDOW 1998 Black Mare

CKH Black Widow is sired by HVK Bell Flaire and out of MKS Aprilann, a full sister to Serenity Masterpiece. "Hannah" is big, she can trot and she has a big "snort and blow" attitude. She produced two daughters for Copper Beech LLC (one by DBA Street Talk and one by Astronomicallee), and one son by Stand and Deliver - all of them exceptional. Hannah delivered a beautiful dark bay filly by Stand And Deliver on April 2, 2011 that we have named RWF Belle d'Avril. We have received confirmation that Hannah is safely in foal to Mizrahi for 2012.

COBRIDGE MAXIMUM AFFAIR 1995 Chestnut Mare

Maxine was a breeder's dream and we are proud of our friends Brenda and Doug Coats for breeding her. We purchased her sight unseen in partnership with our good friend Dick Phillips as a yearling from a video tape sent to us by Phil Fountain. Phil showed her to Reserve World Champion Mare honors as a two year old, standing behind Tara's Anasazi. We then sold her to Marilyn Esteb where Melissa Wahl showed her to the Grand National Champion Ladies Pleasure Driving Championship. She now grazes the pastures at Playmor Farm and is producing top show horses for the Hazen family's breeding program. She brought great joy to our lives and to the lives of those who know her. We continue to follow her career with enthusiasm.

DRAGONSMEADE EVENSONG 2000 Bay Mare

We waited a long time for the opportunity to purchase Evensong and are very happy that she is a part of Ridgewood. To make it even more exciting, she is carrying a 2012 foal by Dragonsmeade Axios. We can't wait for this baby to arrive!

DRAGONSMEADE KALAHARI 2001 Bay Mare

We were fortunate to be able to purchase Kalahari from Dragonsmeade Farm at the CopperDragon II Sale in spring of 2010. Cedar Creek Scalawag and JW Southern Charm's bloodlines are very rare to find these days so we are pleased to have Lucy as a broodmare at Ridgewood. She is a big, kind and beautiful mare and has found her forever home in Colorado. Lucy delivered a beautiful chestnut colt in February, 2011 who is sired by World Champion Dragonsmeade Icon. We look forward to watching 'Connor' grow up to be a show horse and also to the foals Lucy will produce for us in the future.

DRAGONSMEADE ODIN - SOLD! 2008 Brown Gelding

Congratulations Kelly Wendell on your selection of Dragonsmeade Odin. He is a very cool horse and we know you are going to enjoy much success in the show ring with him in the years ahead. Thank you to Tim Roesink, who served as agent for both parties.


Odin is sired by World Champion And The Beat Goes On and is out of World Champion WSG Shady Lady. He carries his head high, only knows how to trot, and is beautiful. Our hope is that he will become a top performance horse, like so many of his siblings, for our farm. Odin made his show ring debut at the 2011 Southern States Regional and was the UPHA Park Harness Classic Reserve Champion.

EXCITING 1989 Bay Stallion

He was a hot bay stallion who came trotting out of his stall over level every day. A small but game harness horse we loved to hook him and enjoy him as a harness horse on the farm. For Ridgewood he produced just one foal, a beautiful bay filly we named RWF Natalia. Natalia was out of a good show mare in her day, Arkomia Tallahassee. We sold Natalia as a weanling and the last we heard she was being enjoyed as a family pleasure horse in Wyoming.

FAITH HILL 1995 Bay Mare

Julie went shopping and returned with the coming yearling filly, Faith Hill. I was speechless when she looked at me and said 'Anything can happen if you have a little Faith!' Faith went on to be the first yearling to win the Circle J Yearling Futurity Championship. Her career continued with a Grand National win in Oklahoma, also as a yearling. We later sold her and she now continues her show ring career as a hunter pleasure mare. We've always thought she was a beautiful mare and are proud that she was one of the early Ridgewood-owned champions. And Julie was right; amazing things can happen if you keep the faith!

FCF ELANA 1985 Chestnut Mare

Elana was sired by one of our favorite stallions, Sorento, and out of the good producing mare, Brentwood Lady Lea. She also carries the distinction of having produced the first RWF-bred World Champion, RWF Victorious, by Duke of Wynne. Elana was a typey mare with a great shoulder and a lot of talent. She passed these traits on to her produce, of which there were far too few. She was a foundation mare for Ridgewood and one that we revere even to this day.

FCF LALIQUE - RETIRED 1990 Black Mare

I remember the day I met Lalique in person. I had flown to Raintree Farm to see a foal, Raintree Celine. Stabled across the aisle were FCF Lalique and a black weanling filly, Raintree Joyous. Any thoughts of buying a filly stopped in that moment and I quietly wondered how I could get Lalique. As if fate were listening to my dream, Barb asked if I had an interest in leasing Lalique. I immediately said yes and promptly bred her to World Champion Park Saddle Horse Centerpiece. The resulting filly was the World Champion Mare, RWF Over The Rainbow. Lalique has now retired at Ridgewood Farm.

FLAIRE DE LARK 1988 Chestnut Gelding

We called him 'Luke', and he was perhaps Jake's favorite Morgan of all time. He was one of the early Ridgewood Morgans, a son of Waseeka's Skylark and Hylee's Justintime. We sold Luke as a two year old to Shelby Guelich of Temecula, California, but then he was given back to Ridgewood after a chain of events. Jake showed him successfully in harness, and Tara Lindeen (now Good) showed him under saddle. To the best of our knowledge, Luke is still alive and living his days at Hylee Farm in Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin as a lesson horse. We are so grateful to have owned this wonderful horse in our early years. These are the Morgans that helped solidify our love for the breed and our lifelong passion of owning them.

FUTURITY'S NOBELLE PRIZE 1990 Chestnut Mare

We were fortunate to acquire Nobelle Prize as an aged mare. Among her notable get are Futurity's Touch Of Harley, one of the foundation mares for Kevin Schengrund's SSLLC breeding program, Boston's Big Whammy, a titled show horse currently owned by Debra Hurst Walters, and World Champion Futurity's Miss Munitions who is sired by Tug Hill Whamunition and owned by the Dodson family. Worthy to note is that Nobelle Prize is a full sister to Futurity French Command. Prize has been confirmed in foal to DBA Street Talk for a 2012 foal.

HF NORTH BORN 1981 Chestnut Gelding

His name morphed from 'North Born' to 'Nanook of the North' to 'Nook.' And he was a blast. We bought him in utero and he carried the HF prefix (Harmonette Farm) as that was the precursor to Ridgewood's RWF. Scottie Matton showed him for us in two year old park harness and despite his airs above the ground, was able to keep him between the shafts long enough to win a class or two for us. We sold Nook to Shamrock Farm in Kentucky, where he became a National winning show gelding for Ashley Taylor Wilson and her brother, Ethan. In that role, he was a very special horse and I believe he died at Shamrock Farm--a beloved member of their family.

HVK IRISH HIGH 1996 Bay Mare

Irish is a full sister to multi World-titled HVK Bell Flaire. We purchased her at the 2009 Copper Beech Sale. She is a joy to have in the barn as her personality is endearing and kind. When she walks out the barn door she flags and primps like a park mare--just the attitude we love to see in our broodmares. Irish is in foal to DBA Street Talk for 2010, making this foal yet another of the golden Flaire/Masterpiece cross. CONGRATULATIONS to Bruce and Jean Beckman on your selection of this mare. We wish you much success with both Irish and her Street Talk foal. NEWS!! Irish presented the Beckmans with a bay filly in March, 2010.

HVK NOBLE ROSE 1991 Bay Mare

Noble Rose is an exquisite mare. She is the type that will flag her tail and primp around the pasture like a show mare, even in her golden years. For Ridgewood, she produced two top colts by Centerpiece: RWF Noble Peace and RWF Peaceful Warrior. Our hearts were saddened when Rose lost a filly in 2009 by the late Queen's Romeo, as we had very high hopes for this cross. The good news is that Rose is back in foal for Debbie LaMay of JD Stables in Michigan, and we wish them all the success that Ridgewood has had with this truly great daughter of Noble Flaire.

HYLEE DIRTY DANCING - SOLD! 1995 Chestnut Mare

Dee-Dee is a full sister to one of our all-time favorite mares, HyLee Sadie Hawkins. She is a tall, refined mare with the most exquisite face you will ever find. Her neck is long, her throatlatch is fine--even the untrained eye can pick her out in a crowd. For now, she's grazing in the fields with our other special mares. We thank Bob and Debi Boies, CastleRidge Farm, for making Dee-Dee available to us.

HYLEE SADIE HAWKINS 1998 Chestnut Mare

I met 'Sadie' at Country Manor Farm in Cannon Falls, MN as a yearling. Jackie Millet, now Sweeney, owned CMF before it later took on the name of it's predecessor, Hylee Farm. Sadie was an impressive yearling and you could pick her out in a pasture as the most beautiful, the most upheaded, the most talented. She went on to storm the show ring by winning a World title in Oklahoma in Two Year Old Park Harness. Years later, Sadie came to Ridgewood through the generosity of Bob and Debi Boies, Landrum, South Carolina. She had one foal for us, RWF Tuscany, before her much-too-early death. We are fortunate to have her full sister, Hylee's Dirty Dancing, in our group of mares. She is different than her sister, but there is no denying the family resemblance.

HYLEE'S JUSTINTIME 1971 Chestnut Mare

'Tina' holds a special place in our hearts, as she is the mare that served as the foundation for our love of producing Morgan horses. For us, she produced Thunderbolt TBM and Northernaire--both by Rimlo Black Valiant. In addition, she produced the winning show gelding Flaire De Lark by Waseeka's Skylark and the first Morgan to carry the RWF prefix, RWF Kristina, by Irish Ebony. She also produced a lovely chestnut filly by Sorento that we named RWF Best Of Times. Mention Tina in the presence of myself or Jake Hendzel and you'll get the same instant response--'she was the best of the best.' We loved this grand old mare.

I STAND ALONE 1990 Chestnut Mare

I Stand Alone's contribution to our program has been significant--two fillies, RWF Songbird by Hylee's Galaxy Seven, and RWF Estelle by MEM The Patriot. 'London' is also the dam of the winning show gelding, Meet Joe Black, and the winning harness horse, CBMF Stand By Me. She is now retired and spending her time grazing with her Masterpiece sister, Rights of Passage.

INTRINSIC BEAUTY 1994 Bay Mare

Beauty left us much too soon, but prior to her passing she blessed us with two wonderful foals. They are World Champion RWF Paganini and the up and coming prospect, RWF Whamerican Beauty. Paganini, sired by Beethoven, won the World Champion Junior Gelding Championship as a yearling in Oklahoma. Whamerican Beauty, now two, was recently purchased by Mountain Aspen Morgans as a show prospect and future broodmare. When Beauty died, she was under the vigilant care of the Martin family and Aljak Acres. For those of you who have seen Aljak Acres, you know she passed while enjoying a little slice of Heaven on earth. We are blessed to know she had such wonderful care in her final days.

IRISH EBONY 1980 Black Stallion

When we were first into Morgans, we fell in love with the Beamington offspring. We had seen Irish Ebony as a yearling at the Jubilee Regional Show and were later able to purchase him as an adult stallion from the Dodson family. He sired several foals for us and some of our clients before we sold him to Dave and Carol Allen in Wisconsin. In addition to Ebony, we owned his dam, Irish Ecstasy, and his sisters, Irish Oh My and Beaming Beauty. We tried hard to buy Irish Elegance, too, but couldn't quite get that done! It was a family affair--the 'Beamingtons' bring back wonderful memories of our early days with the Morgan horse.

IRISH ECSTASY 1970 Chestnut Mare

To have had the opportunity to own Ecstasy was an honor. Through our pastures had passed Irish Oh My, Beaming Beauty, Irish Ebony, all by Beamington and ultimately the foal 'Stasy' was carrying when she came to us, FCF Anastasia, by Sorento. We are blessed to have had Stasy spend her final years with us at our farm in Michigan. She was extraordinarily elegant. Her fourth offspring by Beamington, Irish Elegance, was most reminiscent of her dam.

IRISH OH MY 1979 Bay Mare

I remember Doris Ryan telling me Oh My named herself - those were the first words out of Doris' mouth when she saw the newborn at the side of her dam, Irish Ecstasy. Oh My was the first yearling to win the National Futurity class in Oklahoma with her handler, Steve Quaid, for Jaklee Farms in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Oh My and Bealoved were two fillies at Jaklee Farm that I loved and I'm so grateful they eventually spent time at Ridgewood. It was Irish Oh My and her siblings, along with Bealoved, that serve as the foundation for my lifelong love of breeding Morgan show horses.

JW ROMANTIC MEMORIES 1995 Bay Mare

Romantic Memories is a full-bodied, high-headed hot mare. She is out of Noble Airess, a full sister to Noble Flaire, making her a maternal sister to many of the great JW-prefix horses including the record-setting park harness horse JW That Special Flaire. She is a model broodmare and has had outstanding foals for us, including Frosted Flake by Mainframe, RWF Tres Jolie by Futurity French Command, RWF Indigo Girl by Mainframe and RWF Belenardo by HVK Man About Town.

LIV REALITY STAR 2004 Bay Mare

Reality Star is an exquisite mare, a worthy representative of her impressive pedigree. Like all the Masterpiece mares, she has incredible drive off her hocks. 'Judi' has charisma and a showy attitude. Leading her around outside is a joy as her tail is over her back and her head is high in the air. A young mare, she produced a very nice bay colt by Ben's Rhapsody that we named RWF On The Reverse. We sold this colt as a yearling and will be watching him with his first-time Morgan owner, Rebeka Murray, in the future.

MERWIN CARAMORE 1989 Bay Mare

There are a lot of fun stories around our association with 'Carrie', but perhaps the most amusing of them involves Miss Judy Whitney Harris. We were showing Carrie at the Jubilee Regional Show and Judy had a client interested in purchasing Carrie. The deal was closed pending the usual vet inspection--or so we thought. We all agreed to meet at 8:00 AM for the vet check exam, but rather than showing up with her vet, Judy showed up with a halter and lead shank. Judy looked at me and said 'Honey, is this mare sound?' I replied that yes, Ma'am, she was indeed sound. 'I'll take your word for that son, and in the event it turns out you're not a man of your word I'll be giving you a phone call.' That was the vet check. Caramore is now owned by Dr. Robert Jones in Missouri and continues to produce outstanding foals for him.

MISS SOMONAUK 1997 Black Mare

'Mona' reminds us of our early days with Morgans when her dam, Brentwood Bracelet, was being shown as an open and ladies park harness mare. The first time we saw Mona she was a two year old with Ekstrom stables showing all the promise of her great dam. She followed in those steps and went on to be a winning park saddle and harness mare in her own right. Mona came to Ridgewood several years ago and as recently sold to Lonnie Yoder. We wish you much success.

OAK CREEK CHIEF OF STAFF 1992 Bay Gelding

Chief is a show horse from ears to tail. He is one of the favorite geldings we've owned because he was always so game and ready to show. Throughout his career he made numerous victory passess with Wendell Williams, Jennifer Kellert and others. Every time he stepped into the show ring it was to win and often that's exactly what he did. Chief continues his winning ways under the ownership of Margaret J. Brown in Dehli, New York, where he is still one of the top winning amateur pleasure driving horses in the Mid-Atlantic area.

PRELUDE TO PASSION 1990 Chestnut Mare

Passion spent just a short time with Ridgewood Farm, but during that time we decided to breed her to Aljaks Double Whammy. She was sold to Ann Hailey's Copper Beech Morgans with that foal in utero. The resulting colt is the top winning CBMF Double Down, or 'Kenny' as he is affectionately known. Had this been her only foal, she would have made her mark, but Passion continues to be a top producing mare for Ann and we continue to watch her--and her CBMF foals--very closely. She is an extraordinary mare--a full sister to the great producer Pompp And Pazazz, as well as our own Slip Into Silk.

RAINTREE JOYOUS 2004 Black Mare

Sired by Astonomicalle and out of World Champion producer FCF Lalique, Joy carries valuable Wham Bam Command blood through her granddam, Liberation Starbrite. She is a maternal sister to WC Raintree Picasso and WC RWF Over The Rainbow. We bred Joy in 2009 to Rose Valley Very Impressive and are anxious to see her first foal in 2010.

RIGHTS OF PASSAGE 1990 Chestnut Mare

She will trot across a field and take your breath away. An own daughter of Serenity Masterpiece, she has yet to produce a foal for Ridgewood Farm. We remain hopeful and thank Roxanne Sardelli for the opportunity to lease this wonderful mare.

RWF AFTER MY HEART 1997 Bay Mare

She was such a pretty baby and she stole our hearts, thus her name. She quickly stole the hearts of Janelle and Kay Schroeder as well, and they purchased her as a weanling for their Cadence Morgan Farm. Her sire, Tara's Cherokee, played a vital role in the success of the Ridgewood program and her dam, Charisma Command, added allure to an already impressive pedigree. We were very proud to have produced RWF After My Heart.

RWF BARTOK - SOLD! 2010 Bay Stallion

We welcomed 'Bryce' to the world at 5:00 PM on May 12, 2010. He is a welcome member of the Ridgewood family as he is the son of the great mare Cedar Creek Arabella, on lease from Cedar Creek Farm, and sired by Bocelli.

RWF BATIQUE 2008 Chestnut Mare

Batique is a spicy chestnut mare and so reminiscent of her really cool dam, AFF Chapel Belle. I think most people in the Morgan show world remember Libby McLemore showing Chapel Belle as a three year old under saddle so successfully. Sired by DBA Street Talk, Batique is an outstanding prospect for the show ring. We wish her new owners, Bruce and Jean Beckman, tremendous success with this remarkable filly.

RWF BAY DE NOC 1998 Bay Gelding

Bay De Noc was a beautiful foal as you can see in his photos. No surprise that he was elegant and smooth as both his parents carried the same traits. We sold him at an early age when we sold our farm in Michigan. He now resides in Cape Elizabeth, ME.

RWF BELENARDO 2009 Bay Gelding

'Spyder' is yet another of the good foals that JW Romantic Memories has given us. He has a long, flat hip and tremendous set to his shoulder. He is strong, talented and extremely bold--exactly what we like to see in our young Morgans. He is going to be a big horse and, if wishes come true, a harness horse too! Lots of talent and a very balanced and cadenced trot are this youngster's greatest attributes. He is very reminiscent of his sire, HVK Man About Town.

RWF BELISSIMA 2007 Chestnut Mare

We sold Belissima in utero. She is out of a linebred Trophy/In Command mare and is sired by the linebred Wham Bam Command stallion, Aljaks Double Whammy. We believe she is going to be an incredible brood mare one day. Take a close look at her pedigree and you'll understand why. And the frosting on the cake, so to speak, is that beautiful face!!

RWF BELLE ROUGE 2002 Bay Mare

I love this mare and while it was a tremendous sale for Ridgewood at the time, we still regret parting with her as a weanling. She is a long-necked, beautiful Harlequin daughter out of the great show mare Arboria LaBelle. I have little doubt she would have been an outstanding broodmare for Ridgewood had we kept her. She has gone on to be a winning hunter pleasure mare for her owners and we are proud of her accomplishments in that arena, too. Perhaps the day will come when she returns home. She would certainly be welcome!

RWF CASE CLOSED 2006 Chestnut Stallion

We've never sold a colt as fast as we did 'Carlos.' He was three days old. We had photos that Ken Martin had taken for us. I showed them to Debra Hurst and she said she wanted him. I said he was expensive and she wrote the check. The deal took less than five minutes. Amazing, but not as amazing as Carlos was as a baby. Unfortunately, he died much too young, so he never realized his full potential. To those that knew him, he was a special colt. His early death remains a disappointment.

RWF DEARLY BEALOVED 1991 Bay Mare

I remember the day she was born. It was in a pasture at our Michigan farm. Her dam, Bealoved, foaled earlier than we had anticipated. Jake took one look at her and said, 'it's a filly and her name is Dearly Bealoved.' She was a mare very reminiscent of her linebred Beamington pedigree. We bred her to Stonecroft Masquerade and she produced the nice mare, RWF To Have And To Hold, now owned by Debbie LaMay in Michigan.

RWF DENALI 2001 Chestnut Gelding

Denali is a really nice gelding sired by Carlyle Upper Caisse and out of the winning show mare, Merwin Caramore. He grew up to a be a reliable Classic Pleasure horse in both saddle and harness. He was started in his career by Jake Hendzel and Jerry DeSmidt, and they showed him successfully at regional shows. 'Leroy' is now owned by Joy Merbach of Hilbert, Wisconsin.

RWF DIBELLA 2001 Bay Mare

RWF DiBella is truly a wonderful mare with a linebred pedigree that should grab the attention of any astute breeder. She's is out of the lovely and refined Tara's Sable, and is sired by Cedar Creekharlequin. She's had one daughter by Aljaks Double Whammy, RWF Belissima. DiBella is owned by JSP Morgans and is currently being offered for sale. Take a look; she's a great opportunity for a foundation broodmare. As an added incentive, Bella has also had several months of professional training under saddle.

RWF DREAMGIRL 2008 Bay Mare

Dreamgirl, or 'Diva,' was a special filly from the day she was born. She loves people. Inquisitive, beautiful, safe--a weanling ambassador for the Morgan breed. She is now owned by Jim and Tracey Coombes and their son Ryan, but it seems the bond is between Diva and Ryan. We get photos now and then and appreciate that we get to share them with you here. 'Claire' is a beautiful daughter of the WC park stallion Man In Motion, and the black park mare Miss Somonauk. She is a stunning filly with huge eyes, an extremely long forearm, long pasterns and overall refinement that catches your eye. She is right out of the Waterford Farm mold of World Champion show horses. She has solid in-hand potential, combined with a strong, balanced trot. And--icing on the cake--she's an extremely dark bay. RWF ENCHANTED EVENING 1997 Bay Mare

When we saw this beautiful filly at birth, her name came to us in an instant--she was enchanting! Sired by Tara's Cherokee and out of the linebred In Command mare, GVF Intimate Command, Eve is bred to breed on. We sold her as a weanling to Kay and Janelle Schroeder and she went on to be a top winning Western show mare for them. I'm anxious for the day when she starts to produce offspring of her own.

RWF FINEST HOUR - SOLD! 2008 Bay Mare

RWF Finest Hour is among our very best. She is exquisitely refined and beautiful. When she trots she floats and we simply stand, watch and smile. Her sire, DBA Street Talk, is a Serenity Masterpiece son who consistently passes on his long hip and great shoulder. Her dam, Cabot French Kiss, is a daughter of Futurity French Command and was a stunning park harness mare in her younger years. The combination of these two grand horses came together in our finest work as breeders.

RWF ICONIC 2011 Chestnut Stallion

'Connor' is special colt with a heart as big as life itself. He is the perfect combination of Dragonsmeade Icon and Trophy's Jade. He is currently owned by Selvin and Gina Torrez and we are very excited about his future as a show horse and breeding stallion.

RWF INDIGO GIRL 2008 Bay Mare

'Amy' is a daughter of our good producing mare, JW Romantic Memories, and sired by the impressive Serenity Masterpiece stallion, Mainframe. She is also a full sister to Frosted Flake, the chestnut yearling that took the NEMHS yearling futurity by storm and went on to be an impressive saddle mare. We sold Amy as a weanling, but we truly loved her hot showy attitude. When you walked through the barn, she'd put her tail over her back in her stall and blow at you. She was just a really fun filly. John Suprenaunt and Charleen McCarthy are her new owners. We can't wait to see her come out in the show ring. Until then, we'll keep begging for photos to post on the website.

RWF JULIANNA 1994 Bay Mare

Okay, there's a story here that few have been told. There was once a woman who lived in Colorado. Her name was Julia Ann Ouska and we had become friends. When Julianna was born, I gave her that name in order to lure Julie into the Morgan world in a more serious way. Alas, it worked! Julie ended up purchasing her namesake and the rest is history. I would feel more shameful in telling the story had the ending not turned out so well! Julianna was out of the Forevermore mare, Perenielle, who we had purchased from our friend Tami Johnson (pictured driving Thunderbay at left), and in fact this may have been our first introduction to Tami. Sired by Thunderbay, Julianna was line bred to Beamington. We showed her some as a yearling prior to selling her. For her day, she was a very nice filly and we understand she lives in Colorado now, not too far from our home here in Elizabeth.

RWF KRISTINA 1991 Brown Mare

Kristina has the distinction of being the first Morgan mare to carry the RWF prefix. We are as proud of her today as we were the day she was born. Sired by Irish Ebony, a Beamington son who played an important role in our program in the early years, she is out of our foundation and prized broodmare, Hylee's Justintime, who also produced Northernaire (by Rimlo Black Valiant) and Flaire De Lark (by Waseeka's Skylark) for Ridgewood. Kristina had multiple wins in the Western division and continues to show in the junior exhibitor division for North Star Stables in Minnesota.

RWF MISS MELISSA 2001 Bay Mare

I remember the year we bought Minion Flipside. We weren't shopping for a mare, but during an English Pleasure class at the Jubilee, Julie turned to me and said 'I must have her.' So we packed her up and headed for Michigan. The following year, we bred her to Carlyle Upper Caisse and the resulting filly was RWF Miss Melissa, named after our dear friend Melissa Cribley-Wahl. Miss Melissa is currently owned by Tom and Kerry Bodine.

RWF MISS SAIGON 1997 Brown Mare

Though we sold her as a youngster, Miss Saigon remains one of the favorite Morgans we've bred. She was born on our farm in Michigan when the RWF prefix was still unknown. Through the years, she has helped promote the Morgan breed, and our farm, in important ways. The photo with Phil Fountain riding her still hangs in Jay's office--a tribute to our early days in the Morgan breed. She is sired by the Noble Flaire son, HVK Noble Wind, and is out of the Black River Major daughter, Sincerely. We continue to be proud of this wonderful mare.

RWF Money Talks is the kind of colt that comes along once in a breeder's lifetime. Sired by DBA Street Talk and out of the Bell Flaire daughter, CBMF Fire And Ice, he definitely falls into our 'top ten' list of RWF Morgans. Definitely a show gelding with World Champion show potential.

RWF NICOLE 2009 Bay Mare

Nicole is one of the most beautiful fillies we have bred. She is out of the stretchy and elegant Mainframe daughter, Intel, and sired by Tara Good's great stallion, Stand and Deliver. She comes by her talent and good looks naturally and we wish the best of luck to her new owner, Barbara Darby, in Webster, New Hampshire.

RWF NOBLE PEACE 2005 Bay Gelding

RWF Noble Peace was the first foal presented to us by his wonderful dam, HVK Noble Rose. He is sired by the World Park Saddle Champion, Centerpiece, a stallion having significant influence in our program. We sold Noble Peace to the Charles Buller family as a weanling, and he went on to win a Grand National Reserve Champion title as a yearling. We are very proud to be the breeders of this fine colt and, although he has been gelded, we look forward to seeing his get in the future via frozen semen.

RWF NOELLE 1998 Bay Mare

We call her our Millennium Mare, as Noelle was crowned World Champion Mare at the 2000 Grand National & World Championship Show. Sired by Tara's Cherokee and out of a Wham Bam Command daughter, Noelle is the Ridgewood culmination of years of studying the Tara Farm breeding program. Her pedigree is rich in the blood of Trophy and In Command. We are honored to have bred such a beautiful mare. Noelle is currently owned by Phil and Gloria Blevins, SYP Morgans. We would love to have a foal from her one day.

RWF ON DISPLAY 2008 Bay Mare

Out of one of the most beautiful Harlequin daughters to ever breathe, 'Tara' is sired by the sire of champions, Stand And Deliver. She is a big, bold, stretchy bay with a world of potential. We recently sold her to Bruce and Jean Beckman and we wish them great success with this prospect filly. We're anxious to see her mature and show.

RWF ON THE REVERSE 2008 Bay Gelding

'Ben' is a tall and beautiful gelding with a world of potential as a show horse. He is sired by the champion stallion, Ben's Rhapsody, an important stallion in the Copper Beech breeding program, and out of the talented park mare, LIV Reality Star. He is exquisitely refined with the attitude it takes to be a showring star. We sold ben to Rebekah Murray and are anxious to watch them grow together as a team. Rebekah and her family are new to the world of Morgan horses.

RWF OVER THE RAINBOW 2005 Bay Mare

'Ruby' is the 2006 World Champion Mare and the second RWF mare to attain that title. Every moment of our involvement with this wonderful mare has been a joy. Thank you Ann Hailey for the opportunity to own Ruby again.

RWF PAGANINI 2006 Bay Gelding

From the time he was born, we knew he was special. His dam, now deceased, was among our very best mares. His sire, Beethoven, is a known sire of athletes so 'Logan' comes by his greatness honestly. As a yearling, he was the World Champion Jr. Gelding at the Grand National and World Championship Show in October. Afterwards, he was sold to Frank and Monty Kugeler of Denver, Colorado. Watch for Logan in the Hunter division with Mary Cockriel this year and with his new owner, Monty, in the future. We're very excited to have a top contender in the Hunter Pleasure division--a first for Ridgewood.

RWF PEACEFUL WARRIOR 2007 Bay Stallion

Another astute purchase by Debra Hurst Walters, she purchased Warrior after having lost the great colt, RWF Case Closed. Warrior is sired by Centerpiece and out of the wonderful Noble Flaire daughter, HVK Noble Rose, making him a full brother to Grand National Reserve Champion RWF Noble Peace. Warrior will debut in the Three-Year Old saddle division in 2010 and is looking every inch the part of a top notch show horse.

RWF PERFECT WORLD 2008 Bay Stallion

He had to have been a special colt for us to give him this name and, from birth until now, we've never felt differently. Perry is now a big, strappin' coming two-year-old and we are excited to see him grow into his show shoes in the years ahead. He is sired by the sire of show horses, DBA Street Talk, and out of the refined and beautiful show mare, Soul Sister. Perry is owned by Ken and Joan Martin of Jackson, Michigan (Aljak Acres) and we share their enthusiasm for this up and coming stallion.

RWF RUNAWAY BRIDE 2008 Bay Mare

Runaway Bride is a cool and fun name for a cool and fun filly. 'Julia' is sired by the sire of performance horses, Beethoven, and is out of the great show mare, AFF Chapel Belle. She has a long refined neck, a long cadenced stride and we expect to see great things from her in the hunter division. Julia is owned by Shaughnessy Morris and Maretta Kennedy.

RWF SAWYER BROWN 1997 Bay Gelding

Sawyer Brown was second generation Ridgewood Farm breeding. He was sired by the typey and beautiful Triton In Command and out of our good producing mare, RWF Dearly Bealoved. A turn of events forced us to sell Sawyer before we could help him realize his potential as a show horse. We wish we had had the opportunity to show him ourselves.

RWF SUPERSTITIOUS 2006 Bay Gelding

'Bobby' was one of six outstanding foals we had that were sired by Centerpiece. His dam is the elegant brown mare, Carlyle Decadence, now owned by Debbie LaMay in Michigan. He is also the first foal born on our Colorado farm carrying the RWF prefix. We sold Bobby as a yearling hunter prospect and anticipate seeing him in the show ring in years ahead.

RWF TINY DANCER 2007 Chestnut Mare

Tiny is a gorgeous filly that we sold to Charleen McCarthy and John Suprenaut as a weanling. She is sired by Minion Millennium and is out of the Noble Flaire daughter, HVK My Flaire Lady, making her a product of the golden cross--Flaire x Masterpiece. She has spent the last two years running in the fields of New Hampshire, but we are anxious to see her show ring debut sometime in the future. We understand she is a farm favorite.

RWF TITLETOWN 1997 Brown Gelding

Every now and then a mare comes along that sets you back on your heels. Brentwood Lady Magic was just such a mare, and set new standards of excellence both in harness and under saddle. We felt fortunate when we were able to purchase her and have her join the Ridgewood band of broodmares. She produced just one foal for us, RWF Titletown. He is sired by the incomparably beautiful Futurity First Edition, owned by Susan Overstreet and Nightmusic Morgans. Titletown has been a great show horse and has been campaigned mostly on the southeast circuit. He is a trooper through and through and we are proud to have him carry our prefix.

RWF TO HAVE AND TO HOLD 1998 Bay Mare

The shipment of semen arrived and we had two mares in heat. We called John Scheidt to see if he was okay with us inseminating two mares in hopes of getting one of them in foal. The end result was two mares, two foals, RWF To Have And To Hold and RWF Walk In The Park, both going on to be winning show horses in their own right. RWF To Have And To Hold comes from a long line of Brunk breeding including horses like Irish Ebony, Beamine, Beamington, Irish Ecstasy and Falcon's Ladylove, to name just a few. We are proud to have bred this lovely bay mare who now resides in the broodmare band for Debbie LaMay.

RWF TRES JOLIE 2006 Bay Mare

Jolie is a beautiful daughter of Futurity French Command and out of our great producing mare, JW Romantic Memories. We bought her in utero and were thrilled when she was born--as beautiful as her pedigree suggested she would be. He dam continues to be a top producer for Ridgewood and we are anxious to see foals from Jolie sometime in the future.

RWF TRIUMPHANT 1998 Chestnut Gelding

RWF Triumphant was the only foal Valiant Tony ever sired for Ridgewood, and Tony was a prized member of our Morgan family. Triumphant was out of our foundation mare, FCF Elana, making him a maternal brother to World Champion RWF Victorious. A very tall, talented and smooth colt with a world of potential. Unfortunately, due to personal circumstances, we were forced to sell him as a two-year old. He was in training at the time with Mark and Melissa Wahl and showed great potential as a show horse.

RWF TUSCANY 2006 Chestnut Gelding

Tuscany was an impressive colt, very reminiscent of both his sire and dam. He had a beautiful head and a perfectly laid-back shoulder, similar to both his parents. We sold Tuscany as a coming yearling to Steve and Annette Smith and, unfortunately, he was the only foal ever given to us by Sadie Hawkins before she died. Tuscany is now owned by Paul Yoder in Danville, OH.

RWF VICTORIOUS 1995 Chestnut Gelding

There is no moment of greater joy than when a horse carrying your prefix, that you have bred and have loved, steps into the coliseum in Oklahoma City and gives your farm it's first World Championship title. This outstanding gelding stepped up to take the Two Year Old World Champion Park Harness Championship title and we are extremely proud of that accomplishment. 'Vic' was sired by Duke of Wynne and was out of our great mare, FCF Elana. The thrill of that moment can still excite me today. We've bred World Champions since, but there is no thrill as exciting as the first. Thanks for the memories, Vic.

RWF WALK IN THE PARK 1998 Brown Gelding

'Simon' went on to be a winning Jr. Exhibitor Park Saddle horse on the East Coast and now is being shown out of Peeper Ranch as a successful English Pleasure horse. We have a great time every time we see Simon show and, more often than not, we get to see his victory pass as well.

RWF WHAMERICAN BEAUTY 2008 Bay Mare

Erika is the younger maternal sister to RWF Paganini and shows the same potential as her World Champion big brother. We lost her dam shortly after she was born, so this young lady will always have a special place in our hearts. She is elegant and beautiful; you could build an entire breeding program around her pedigree. CONGRATULATIONS to Bruce and Jean Beckman on their selection of this outstanding show mare. We wish you much success.

SLIP INTO SILK 1989 Chestnut Mare

Every time I look at Silk's picture I sigh--she really is that beautiful. A direct daughter of Serenity Masterpiece, Silk is also the dam of Minion Mademoiselle, one of our all-time favorite mares. In addition, she has the distinction of producing the outstanding Aljaks Double Whammy colt, RWF Case Closed. Silk will retire at Ridgewood; however, we believe she will carry one more RWF foal for us before she does. With a weanling War And Peace filly at her side for Ann Hailey, we chose not to breed her back in 2009. Silk is confirmed in foal to Realize (Minion Millennium x Serenity Kimberly) for a spring 2011 foal.

SMS COMMAND DECISION 1993 Bay Gelding

'Mando' was a horse that we enjoyed a great deal as a young in-hand and harness horse. He was bred well and his looks matched his pedigree. In an interesting twist of events, we realized that his real place in life was as a Western horse. So, with that in mind, we traded him for a mare from Dale and Teri Rickford named A Touch Of Elegance. History in the making. We bred Ellie to Tara's Cherokee and the resulting filly was the 2000 World Champion Mare, RWF Noelle. Sometimes bartering can be a win/win situation as Mando was equally successful for Rickford Training Stable. These are the kinds of stories that make us smile.

SOUL SISTER - SOLD! 2001 Bay Mare

The first time I saw Soul Sister was in harness at the Circle J Horse Show. The second time I saw her was at Copper Beech as a broodmare. The third time I saw her was coming off the van at Ridgewood! Smurf is a wonderful mare and we are really excited to have her as a part of our program. Her first foal for us, RWF Perfect World, is an outstanding example of her ability to produce.

SPRINGMILL ANTHEM 2007 Bay Mare

We are very pleased to have SpringMill Anthem as a part of our group of mares. She is a maternal sister to SpringMill Medicine Man, SpringMill New Harmony, SpringMill Ring Of Fire and SpringMill Superstitious - all beintg out of the great broodmare and World Champion Treble's Unchained Melody. Anthem will be bred to Nostradamus via frozen semen in 2010.

STONECROFT FLAMMABLE 2006 Brown Mare

Flammable has more titles under her belt today than many horses win in a lifetime, and she's just in her last year as a junior horse! An abbreviated list of her wins includes Reserve World Champion Junior Mare as a yearling, World Champion Futurity Two Year Old Mare, Grand National Three Year Old Classic Pleasure Driving Champion and Reserve World Champion in the Three Year Old Classic Pleasure Driving Futurity. She’s sired by the current Park Saddle World Champion STONECROFT TRILOGY and is out of a Tug Hill Commando daughter. Well-bred, beautiful and talented, she is all three! We look forward to Flammable producing World Champion RWF foals in the future.

STONECROFT SEDONA 1995 Bay Gelding

We bought 'Sid' as a weanling from Tara Farm. We had seen him at the Jubilee Show and really liked him. Julie and I collectively agreed that he'd be a good speculation horse, and he turned out to be just that--for us and for others. He was sired by Tara's Cherokee, a World Champion himself and a sire of note, and out of the Waseeka's In Command daughter, Charisma Command. He won several championships in hand and in harness for Cricket Coleman, who purchased him from us as a two year old. He was a bit difficult to start, but ended up being a World Champion show horse. As Tommy Caisse once said to me, the great ones have always got to be a little crazy! Sid was a great one. :-)

TARA'S CAROLINA 1995 Bay Mare

I wish we had been able to keep Carolina long enough to realize her potential. We bought her as a weanling from Tara Farm. She was out of the great Trophy daughter, Southerly Capella, and was sired by Tara's War Paint, a horse I believe to be one of the coolest Morgans to ever live (War Paint is now owned by Dragonsmeade and spends his time in their pastures in Kentucky). We sold Carolina as a two year old due to personal circumstances, but believed then, and now, she would have gone far as a show mare and broodmare. We look at her photos and are reminded of how much we loved her.

TARA'S COTILLION 1979 Bay Mare

We salute Tara's Cotillion as she was our initial introduction to Tara Farm and the beginning of a friendship that continues today. I first saw Cotillion at the Morgan Grand National when she was just two years old, and went to visit her in her stall. I continued my following of the Tara Farm horses for decades and feel my study of their breeding program has helped shape the decisions we make in the RWF program today, relative to effective linebreeding. Cotillion came to Ridgewood late in life and produced just one foal for us, RWF Dances With Wolves, a bay colt sired by one of our favorite Tara Farm stallions, Tara's War Paint.

TARA'S RACHEL 1994 Bay Mare

Tara's Rachel is sired by one of Ridgewood's favorite horses, Tara's Supreme Fox. We bought her because she was out of the incomparable Southerly Maria, one of the greatest producing mares of all time. Though we added her to our group of select mares, she never had a foal for us as we sold her to Marilyn Esteb of Stone Pine Farm in Larkspur, Colorado. As you can see from the photos, she is a beautiful mare. We are always happy when we visit Stone Pine Farm and get to say hello to Rachel. She's been a wonderful producer for Marilyn, as we always knew she would be.

TARA'S SABLE 1994 Dark Bay Mare

Sable was our princess. We first saw her at the Jubilee Regional Morgan Horse Show as a yearling and we knew we had to own her. We bought her on the spot and brought her home with us to Michigan. She was perhaps one of the most beautiful mares we have owned and a daughter of Tara's Cherokee, a sire we continue to hold in very high regard. Sable produced two foals for us. The first was a bay colt by Nobility that we named RWF Bay De Noc. He is pictured at her side in the photograph. She is also the dam of Joe Partain's good Harlequin mare, RWF DiBella. Sable is now owned by Roxanne Sardelli and we were delighted recently see so many beautiful photos of her on the Sarde Morgans website.

TARA'S SUPREME FOX 1989 Brown Gelding

Tara's Supreme Fox was one of Ridgewood's all-time favorite horses. It broke our hearts to have to sell him due to relocation and new circumstances. He was the kind of horse that loved to be hooked and driven down the logging trails in rural Northern Michigan. He would take care of a child, an adult, or an experienced whip. He had an ears-up cocky attitude and a heart as big as life itself. He was a blessing in our lives and we miss him greatly.

THUNDERBOLT TBM 1979 Black Stallion

T-Bolt was an impressive black stallion son of Rimlo Black Valiant and our foundation mare, Hylee's Justintime. We had great fun showing him as a yearling at the North Star Morgan Show and winning the yearling futurity there. We also showed him as a two year old in hand and in harness very successfully at the regional level--Jackie Sweeney was his trainer. T-Bolt died of a twisted intestine late in his two year old year and we were devastated. It was our first experience losing a horse to colic and a very painful process for us. We have fond memories of Thunderbolt even though he was with us for a very short time.

TRE MASTER OF DISGUISE 2002 Brown Stallion

I said 'No No No!' and Julie said 'Yes Yes Yes!' when we purchased 'Marty' as a long weanling. Julie saw the potential that I seemed to have missed as he went on to be named the 2003 Reserve World Champion Stallion when competing in OKC as a yearling. We later sold him to Debra Hurst Walters who had her own success with this great stallion before she, in turn, sold him to Deb Phelan. Deb currently owns and shows him successfully as an amateur horse and he still collects championships in hand and in harness every year. The photos presented here were taken during Marty's successful yearling year when he was owned by Ridgewood.

ULTRA'S NOW AND FOREVER 2002 Bay Mare

Through the years, we have enjoyed our friendship with Steve and Annette Smith and their Ultra Morgans. We purchased HVK Noble Rose from them, as well as Now and Forever, and they purchased RWF Wild Child from us. We saw Now And Forever in the Breeder's Sweepstakes (see photo) and we made arrangements to purchase her for Ridgewood. We showed her through her yearling year prior to selling her out East where she continues to be a winning show mare for her owners in New York.

VALIANT TONY 1980 Bay Stallion

SHEER JOY are the words that come to mind when I think of our association with Valiant Tony. We are indebted to Mrs. Pugh for sharing him with us in his senior years. He produced just two foals for us, a chesnut gelding out of FCF Elana that we named RWF Triumphant, and a bay colt out of Beaming Beauty that we named RWF Lord Of The Dance. We were devastated when Tony broke his leg at Ridgewood but, through the expertise of the veterinarians at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, he was able to live a long, happy and wonderful life under the care of Jan Currie at Elysian Fields. Much can be said about his show career with Whitney Stables, but for us it was just a love affair with a great Morgan stallion. Rest well, dear friend....

WINDEN MAI TAI 2006 Bay Mare

We spotted Mai Tai on Tami Johnson's website and knew, in the moment, we needed to own her. We had never seen such a laid-back shoulder on a weanling in all our years in the breed. And to top it off, she had a four-cornered balanced trot and the attitude of a show horse at a very early age. It's no wonder, though, as she is linebred to Beamington and when you say Beamington you say 'show!' Brian Berry and Victoria Markley visited Ridgewood and they knew they wanted to own her. She now makes her home at RDL Morgans in Santa Cruz, New Mexico.

WINGS OF FIRE 1988 Chestnut Gelding

Gosh! He was a great horse. We never showed Fire, but I can't think of a week when we owned him that we didn't hook him to a buggy and drive down roads and logging trails and over hill and dale. He was an absolute blast. We used to set up obstacle courses for him and drive him through them and I was convinced then, and now, that carriage driving would be something I would love. Julie got over her fear of driving thanks to Fire. He was hot, but sensible, a little more horse than she was accustomed to driving. But drive she did and he took care of her. Fire was a very very good boy!

WYNNE COMMOTION 1978 Bay Stallion

Most people who know Morgans and have been around for a good long while remember Wynne Commotion. He survived a fire in Michigan and endured burns across the majority of his body. A good sire of show horses and broodmares, he sired 66 foals before coming to us late in life. We spoiled him, keeping him knee-deep in straw and shrouded both summer and winter in blankets that would protect him from the sun and the snow. A beautiful son of Waseeka's In Command, we include him here in tribute to his greatness of heart. We were blessed to have him at Ridgewood and in our lives. Rest well, old boy.
